Consumer Unit Replacement in London

Old fuse boxes replaced with modern, fully protected consumer units by NICEIC approved electricians.

About this service

The consumer unit, often called the fuse box, protects every circuit in your home. Older units with rewireable fuses or no RCD protection do not protect you against electric shock the way a modern unit does. If your fuse box is old, often trips, or has been flagged on an electrical report, replacing it is one of the most worthwhile safety upgrades you can make.

Powerline Group replaces consumer units in homes, flats and businesses across London. Every job is carried out by NICEIC approved electricians and is notified under Part P of the Building Regulations.

What is included

  • A modern consumer unit with RCD protection
  • Surge protection where required
  • Testing of every circuit before and after
  • Checks on main earthing and bonding
  • Clear labelling of each circuit
  • An Electrical Installation Certificate

Signs you need a new unit

Rewireable fuses, a wooden backboard, frequent tripping, scorch marks or a burning smell, or an EICR that recommends an upgrade are all signs it is time. If you are unsure, we can inspect it and tell you honestly whether a replacement is needed.

Common questions

Do I need a certificate for a new consumer unit?

Yes. A new consumer unit needs an Electrical Installation Certificate with test results, and the work must be notified under Part P. As NICEIC approved electricians we handle this for you.

Will my existing wiring work with a new unit?

Modern RCD protection can reveal faults in older wiring that went unnoticed before. We test the circuits and explain anything we find before going any further.

Do you work in rented properties?

Yes. We regularly work with landlords and agents and provide the certificates they need.
